Scott Benjamin, Owner-Executive Chef

A self-taught chef, Scott has spent his entire life in the restaurant and beverage industries, with a career spanning almost twenty years. His love of wine started when he was growing up in Virginia’s fledgling wine country. Scott later attended Kansas State University where he soon gained employment, and eventually managed a large wine retail store. In 1997 he began working for Standard Beverage as a fine wine salesperson. During this time Scott began visiting all the major wine regions in the world and studying the restaurants in each region. Through the years, Scott developed all the ideas for his perfect restaurant. In 2004 he and his wife Rachel, an instructor at Kansas State and PhD student in food sciences, opened 4 Olives Wine Bar. 4 Olives has received various awards and excellent reviews, notably being a recipient of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence since 2005, and being the only restaurant in Kansas to receive honors as a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence, one of only 700 restaurants in the world to be honored with the award.
